Dear Peoples,
On Wednesday August 26, 2007 I embarked on a journey to see some kick ass bands. This journey was straight into what most people would say is a "bad neighborhood" or "the wrong side of the tracks". Hell if we cared. I was with the Director of Hard Rock at KSLU and we were going to interview Dez Fafara, the lead singer of DevilDriver. We drove up to Pops and were met by DevilDriver's tour director. He lead us into the band's bus. The bus was like a sleeper car on a train that could drive on the highway. At the end of the bunks there was a lounge and we did the interview there.
I don't want to put the interview into this post yet becouse I don't have the recording and I don't want to misquote Dez. When the recording is put online I will post a link to it. The first thing you should know about Dez is that he's an awesome guy. It's unusual that a lead singer of such a large band would let in some college kids to interview him but he had no problem with it. One thing I can safely say is that his favorite color is purple. After that epic 20 minutes of interviewing we waited around for the concert. This was the lineup for the concert

This is one of the best concerts I've been to at Pop's. Soul Decenders was a great Thrash Metal band. They are right out of High School and they sound great. I would keep an eye on these guys. They're going to get big. Next was Dirtfedd, an industrial metal, keyboard driven band. They're lyrical content is very war based and is definatly a "Fight the Power" band. After that was My Children My Bride. They are a great Christan Metalcore Band. After that was of course DevilDriver. Dez and DevilDriver put on a great show. They have a great stage presence and a huge following. Although this following was not fully represented at Pops it was still a great show.
Best,
